CMS Student Council Elections

Posted: October 11, 2016

We are looking for responsible students who are interested in being part of the CMS Student Council.  Students from grade 6, 7 and 8 can be nominated and run for student council executive (President, Vice-President and Secretary).  Grade 5 students may run to become class representatives.

The Campbellton Middle School Student Council is our “student-elected” leadership group.

Candidates who are elected as members of a student council will have to work toward improving the students' quality of life at school.

This is not for the “in-crowd” or a “popularity” contest!   You should instead choose the person best suited for the job in view of his or her abilities and skills.

It is a group of students who are energetic, creative, responsible, personable and willing to be leaders. They should also have TONS OF ENTHUSIASM!

Here are some of the things you should know, if you are thinking of putting forth your name as a Student Council Candidate:

1-   You represent everyone’s point of view, whether they are your friend or not.

2-   You need to be available for meeting and attend regularly.

3-   You must be available as a helper and organizer of school activities.

4-   You must report Student Council news to your homeroom.

5-   You must encourage and model a positive and respectful attitude in school and towards all students and staff.

6-   You may be removed from your role on student council if you are on level 4 or higher on the PRAISE Program.  This is at the discretion of the student council supervisor and Administration.

7-   You are an example to others!

First Meeting this Friday October 14th at noon recess in the CMS Library!
