Reading:Try and read everyday for 30 minutes. On Friday, tell me how many pages/chapters you read this week and how you broke it up (example: I read 4 times this week for 45 minutes and read 12 chapters). If you needed to finish your current novel by May 8th, how many pages/chapters would you need to read each day? (I could finish my novel by May 5th by reading 30 minutes for the next 8 days).
Writing:
As the weather gets nicer, there are several spring activities that you can do outdoors. Choose a topic from the list below or select your own topic and write a piece of procedural writing giving instructions on how to do, make, or be your topic.
Text Structure for Procedural Writing
Purpose: To provide instructions about how to make, do or be something:

Try to include the following in your procedural writing: Title, Goal: What is going to be made or done? Materials: What is needed? Steps: How will it be made or done?

Try to read up to 30 minutes each day this week(you can break it up into smaller times if it helps...like twice for 15 minutes). I have recieved one completed reading letter so far, yay! This week, even if you are not finished your novel, I would love to hear what you are reading in an email. (My email address is: christina.savoy@nbed.nb.ca) Tell me the title, who the author is, how many pages it has, what page you are on and what do you think about it so far. Just a few sentences like this:
I am currently reading Donut Go Breaking My Heart by Suzanne Nelson. The title is pun-y (pun: a play on words- they use the word donut because it is about a donut shop, instead of do not) which I love! It fits in with my second last novel (an ebook) that was about a mystery whose main character worked in a pastry bakery. Hmmm...I see a theme developing here! I only started last night so I am only on chapter 2. It has 270 pages, but the words and spaces are bigger so it is not overwhelming.
Happy reading!
