Please read the full message even if it does not apply to you to make sure you see everything. :)
All assignments can be found on Microsoft Teams. There are 2 assignments for this week (week of November 8th). Last week for 6,7 &8 FI there were 4 assignments plus a reminder to finish any unfinished free verse poems (2) or poetic forms (3) from when we were at school. Last week for 5FI there were 2 assignments plus a reminder to study your spelling words/activities and to read your Guided Reading book (if you had one in your ziplock bag) and 5E had one assignment and a reminder about spelling and guided reading books. In addition to these assignments: please read 15-20 minutes a day from a novel. And finish any school work that was not completed/passed in before going online. An Architectural Drawing
Imagine that you are a very tiny person who is living in the stump of an old tree. You are energetic. You have tools. You have created a comfortable home with many rooms. You even have a solar-heated hot tub on your roof!
Make an architectual (the art of designing and constructing buildings) drawing of your home in this tree. Label all the rooms and any special luxuries (something that is not needed; an item that is expensive, desirable and/or difficult to get).
As always, bring this work into class when you return to school. Have fun!

A Menu
Pretend that you are having company for supper- visitors from Mars! You have been told that these Martians are bored with regular food, and that they want to eat someting interesting.
Your mission: Plan an exciting menu.
If you fail: besides learning from your mistake, all Mars candy bars will be eliminated from Earth.
*Your menu might start with these snacks before the main meal: appetizer- spinach roll-ups (spinach leaves filled with peanut butter) or musheroom squares - musherooms frozen in little cubes of ice.
Helpful hint: check out online menus for inspiration. You can also add illustrations (pictures of menu items)

Read what you wrote yesterday OUT LOUD. Fix up any parts that don’t make sense. Add any missing details or take out/move any details that don’t belong. Any changes you make- use a coloured pen. Leave this writing piece at this stage for later.
Feel free to repeat this process with another topic from your list. This will give you practice and build up your writing “bank” and stamina.
This assignment can be added to, depending how many topics you want to write about. Please follow the pre-writing and post writing activities - don't simply write if possible. The other parts to "just writing" are very important. Again, no need to submit the work but please bring it to class when you return to school.

Next, choose one topic from your Summer List from the other day. Make a web/list or ideas outline with details about the topic. Details to include: Who, what, where, why, when…what can be seen, heard, felt, description of the where & when and why is this event “memorable/writable” for you. Put these details in order that makes sense to you. Using this brief outline, write in full sentences about it. It can be in one paragraph or in more than one. Set it aside.
Please follow the pre-writing and post writing activities - don't simply write if possible. The other parts to "just writing" are very important. Again, no need to submit the work but please bring it to class when you return to school.
